Grid congestion slows down the sustainability of your business park. This even goes so far as to threaten the expansion opportunities and even the daily operations of the individual companies.
In cooperation with two business parks, we developed a solution to better use the current capacity of the network by using flexibility: The FlexScan.
Reinforcing the electrical network is the most obvious solution; thicker cables must be laid as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, this is too slow a response to an acute problem.
In many cases, it takes 6 to 10 years for grid upgrades to be implemented. And even then, you just have to wait and see if your business park gets the extra space you need. As a result, you are highly dependent on the decisions that network operators make.
The reality is that, as a company, you have to do it now make it more sustainable. This requires an accessible, innovative solution: flexibility expand on the net.
Every company occupies grid capacity, but rarely uses the forgiven capacity 24/7, which is where there are great opportunities to reduce grid congestion today. The solution is to deal flexibly with the consumption profiles of all companies in the business park.
The idea is simple but powerful: make sure that peak times in electricity consumption do not coincide with those of other companies. As a result, we make better use of the network's capacity and create a constant, portable load on the electricity network.
How do you locate that flexibility within an entire business park? We developed the FlexScan for two participating business parks.
The FlexScan identified the flexibility potential of both individual entrepreneurs and the collective at the business parks. Based on public data, it was possible to quickly and cost-effectively provide an indication of the flex potential of all companies in the park.
With the FlexScan, they are taking a first step towards more flexible electricity consumption as a (partial) solution for network congestion problems and an additional revenue model.
By better distributing electricity consumption, the participating business parks are not only reducing grid congestion. They are also creating a new source of income.
